Intellectual property rights – vocational training for European cultural heritage and cultural tourism

The workshop will first present an introduction to the topic, including the possibilities for vocational training and the relevance for the European green transition. Some cases studies will be explained and a vocational training platform will allow participants to try it out.servation and cultural tourism are still far too little used, yet they can be a successful management tool. Kultur und Arbeit e.V. and the law firm Tergau & Walkenhorst offer a vocational training session on the management of IPR which are not only important to secure rights to property but can also provide with a so-called “freedom to operate” and even with additional income. The workshop will first present an introduction to the topic including the possibilities for vocational training and the relevance for the European green transition. In addition, some exemplary cases will be explained and a vocational training platform will offer participants to try it out.

How to bridge the skills gap to enable the green and digital transformation of the chemical industry

The chemical sector (including pharmaceuticals and rubber and plastics) is the second-largest sector in Europe, employing 3.4 million people directly. It contributes 11.9 % of EU27 manufacturing employment. The sector generated an even greater number of indirect jobs – up to three times higher than through direct employment. More importantly, salaries are 45 % higher and productivity is 67 % higher than the average in the EU manufacturing sector. These figures clearly indicate that the chemical sector offers many well-paid jobs, but it also needs highly trained and skilled workers to remain competitive globally.

Bridging non-formal and formal adult learning through PSL competences

PSL competences (Personal, Social and Learning-to-Learn competences) represent a wide range of skills that cut across occupations and sectors and, by fostering self-confidence, can be considered the most urgent skills for adults at risk of marginalisation and unemployment. At our event, we will present the results of our more than two years of work (in a project consortium) on the implementation of PSL competences in adult learning bridge programmes, bringing together non-formal and formal adult learning. Our speakers will present perspectives from civil society, the European Commission and its Joint Research Centre, the OECD and the Walloon labour market training organisation Forem, and discuss challenges and future perspectives.

Fostering cooperation in Higher Vocational Education and Training (HVET) in the EUSALP area

The conference will gather key actors operating at the European and national levels and aims to launch the debate towards a future adoption of a pact for HVET in line with the European Skills Agenda and the European Strategy for Higher Education. Youth mobility in VET – lessons learned from the experience of the chambers of commerce.

The chambers community will contribute to the French Presidency’s discussion on mobility in VET. The Austrian Chamber of Commerce produced a report that examines VET mobility in Austria and draws conclusions that can be applied in a European context. We will look at VET mobility projects from France and Germany and discuss their experiences (including during COVID), drawing conclusions on how to improve VET mobility and make it more useful for SMEs. Taking advantage of the European Year of Youth, we will make observations about the opportunities for young people provided by mobility in VET and present policy recommendations on how mobility can facilitate the supply of the right skills and improve youth employability.

Digital Deep Dives: Can Europe cater for the skill needs of digitalising industries?

DIGITALEUROPE presents fieldwork ideas and concrete initiatives to answer the current and future digital skill needs. Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Sustainability

BIM can be used to reduce energy consumption and the impact of a building on the environment and provides specific workflows and modelling tips that can make a building green. Used in land, water, energy and material sustainability, it has become the 21st century’s biggest game-changer due to its versatility and finesse. By using BIM modelling, every stage of the construction process is transparent. It provides deep insights on material technology and efficient designing on- and offsite, saving time, money and resources and is thus better for the environment. We can also use the BIM model to optimise and monitor performance before and after occupancy. WOB International Academy is part of a large international movement where there are special exchange programs available for our students.
